Good quality leather will last a lifetime depending on the type of leather. We pride ourselves in using only the highest quality leather. When you buy genuine Full grain leather always treat it as you would treat your own skin, feed it and protect it against sun. As with all natural products, direct sun exposure will dry out and change the colour of any full grain analine leather. We advise all clients to treat full grain leather every 2 – 3 weeks with a leather treatment like Plush Leather food or Bee wax products to prolong the lifespan of your couch.
What types of leather are used?
Full Aniline Leather:
This leather has only been dyed in a drum and has no pigmentation on top. It has a protective wax or scotch guard layer. Its appearance is very natural and alive, but with less colour and stain resistance than semi-aniline leather.
This leather has been drum dyed, but has a very thin pigmentation layer on top as well as a silicone scotch Gard layer. Semi-aniline leather has lost a bit of its liveliness and natural character, but is very colour and stain resistant. This leather has the best longevity of all leather types and can be exposed to direct sunlight or heavy wear and tear.
Oil Pull-up Leather:
This leather has been dyed in a drum, but the oils and waxes have been mixed with extra pigmentation and applied on top. Over time this gives the leather a beautiful colour variation
Spills & spots
Any food or drink spilled on your baby bag should be wiped off with a wet cloth. Treating your baby bag every 3 to 6, months with good quality leather food, for example PLUSH, will prolong its lifespan.
Blot (do not rub) excess liquid immediately with a clean dry cloth.
If possible, allow area to dry.
Most liquids will be absorbed by the leather and stains should fade over time or even disappear.
If the stains are more severe, refer to the instructions below.
Use a clean absorbant sponge/cloth and apply a small amount of any non-acidic soap with water.
Do not wipe in circles.
Wipe again using a clean damp cloth to remove excess soap (avoid circular movements).
Allow area to dry.
Once the area on the bag is dry, it is important to apply our leather food to feed the leather as the soap will remove some of the natural leather oils.
